Retired soccer legend Brian Ching recently returned to his alma mater to share some words of inspiration with the campus’ high school soccer players.

Ching, who dedicated 12 years to major league soccer and was a member of the U.S. men’s national soccer team, shared stories of the drive and determination he developed at KS Kapālama and how they fueled his rise to soccer stardom.

He also told the athletes not to let the fear of failure hold them back, and that it was through failure that he learned to excel as an athlete.

Prior to his 2013 retirement, the 1996 KSK alumnus was the all-time leading scorer for the Houston Dynamo. Today, Ching is channeling his passion for soccer into the restaurant industry and plans to open a soccer bar called “Pitch 25” in Houston later this year.
