Snowflake Stem Challenge
Contributed by Kristen Purdy
Through trial and error, students learned that the number of folds affected the number of points they made, and the angles they cut affected the shapes and designs on the snowflake. I demonstrated how to make a 6 point snowflake, then had students experiment with their own designs. Students found it was more difficult to create the 8 points than the 12 points and they found cutting the star in the center required more thought than cutting the hole in the center.
