August 26 is National Dog Day, the perfect time to highlight a senior legacy project looking out for our four-legged friends.
Onelauʻena Class of 2024 senior Emily Hora created her project “KSHSeniorsforSeniors” as a way to raise awareness for senior rescue dog adoption. She is collaborating with Aloha ʻĪlio Rescue, a no-kill rescue dog shelter, and with the kōkua of KSH seniors and student-athletes, is featuring pics with some of the senior rescue dogs up for adoption.
For her, it hits home as well, having adopted two dogs from Aloha ʻĪlio Rescue with her ʻohana. She hopes to give these older souls the same chance as the puppies that catch everyone’s attention to find a good match for a forever home.
Follow her project on Instagram (@kshseniorsforseniors) at https://instagram.com/kshseniorsforseniors.
Please share her project with any Hawaiʻi Island ʻohana you know who may be a good fit for providing a home for these ʻīlio.
Mahalo to members of our football team who came out on this day to lend their kōkua and kind smiles to help highlight these senior dogs in the hopes of finding homes. Hora plans to feature athletes from at least two sports for each season throughout the campaign.
