Local artist Aaron Kawaiaeʻa recently donated a signed canvas painting and giclée of Ke Aliʻi Pauahi to the Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i campus.  KSH Head of School Dr. Holoua Stender accepted the gracious and donation.

Kawaiaeʻa is a widely recognized artist with many projects completed and under development, showcasing Hawaiian leaders. A gifted talent, Kawaiaeʻa illustrated “Kohala Kuamoʻo, Naeʻole’s Race to Save a King,” written by his son, Kekaulele.

Talent runs deep in the Kawaiaeʻa ʻohana, including parents, Walter and Luana as well as Walter’s mentor, Kahauanu Lake.

The Kawaiaeʻa ʻohana shared stories about the Big Island and the artist talked about his inspiration for this portrait of Ke Aliʻi Pauahi during the special presentation.

Event highlights included Kawaiaeʻa’s parents sharing wonderful Hawaiian mele and hula, and KS Hawai‘i first graders singing for the Kawaiaeʻa ʻohana.

Mahalo to Poʻo Kula Senior Administrative Assistant Carol Martin for sharing this story and photos from the event.
