Papa Mālaaʻo haumāna confirmed their understanding of the biblical stories read aloud to them by creating a multi-flow thinking map.   Beginning with the main event of “Jacob Leaves Home” keiki wrote and/or drew illustrations to describe 2 key details that caused the event and 2 key details that followed as a result of the event.

Papa ʻEkahi haumāna chose a thinking map to demonstrate their understanding of the stories of the Israelites.  Some created a double bubble map, comparing and contrasting their leader Moses with his successor Joshua.  Some chose to create a double bubble map comparing and contrasting the book of Joshua, chapter 1, with the KS Alma Mater “Sons of Hawaii”.  Others created a flow map, beginning with their choice of a main event, and chronicling in sequential order the key details that followed.

Engaging in collaborative group discussions, Papa ʻEkolu a me Papa ʻElima summarized information presented to them and created video presentations to illustrate their understanding of the main idea and its application to life.

Sonny uses his iPad to explain his double bubble map describing how he compared and contrasted Moses and Joshua as leaders.

Beginning with the parting of the red sea, Bruce indicated on his flow map the key events that followed, and included the main idea as a title.

Haumāna kūkākūkā as they decide how to best demonstrate the parable of the “Sower and the Soils”.

Having created a short skit to illustrate the concept of patience, haumāna preview their video presentation to ensure it clearly and appropriately conveys the main idea.
