Coty “Buffy” Ofisa, who previously served as manager of the Kamehameha Schools (KS) Resource Center – Kauaʻi, has been named regional director for Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau, a new position within KS’ Community Engagement & Resources Group (CE&R).

Ofisa, who assumed her new role on April 10, is tasked with leading regional planning and strategy efforts through collaboration with community groups to collectively develop and sustain impactful programs, services and investments for Native Hawaiians on Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau.

“Buffy is the perfect person to fill the role of Regional Director for Kauaʻi and Ni‘ihau,” said Kāʻeo Duarte, VP of Community Engagement and Resources at KS. “Her background and knowledge about Kamehameha and her community will help advance and promote the efforts necessary to support the different systems that serve our people.”

Previously, Ofisa worked as a Department of Education middle school counselor on Kaua‘i before joining KS as a dormitory advisor at the Kapālama campus. A 1991 graduate of KS Kapālama and six-year boarding student, Ofisa went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Portland and master’s degree in counseling psychology with a concentration in school counseling from Chaminade University of Honolulu.

Ofisa was born, raised and still lives in Hanapēpē, Kauaʻi.

“It is such a privilege and an amazing kuleana to serve Pauahiʻs mission, along with the Kauaʻi and Niʻihau community,” said Ofisa. “I’m committed to collaborating with the community, focusing on education, and respectfully serving our ʻohana.”
