Probate Court Judge R. Mark Browning recently reappointed Kamehameha Schools Trustee Robert Nobriga to serve a second term on the trustee board.  His final term expires in June 2025. Trustees Micah Kāne, Corbett Kalama, and Lance Wilhelm filed a response in court in support of the reappointment process which started in June.

“Rob is very passionate about fulfilling the vision and mission of our princess,” said Kāne, trustee chair. “His support and focus is unflappable.

“He brings tremendous financial acumen to the board and brings opinions and perspectives that are appreciated by his colleagues. While he comes from a strong business background, his humble Maui upbringing remains at the core of his perspectives, which I believe is important as we guide the trust forward.”

Nobriga is grateful for the reappointment and said that it is an honor serving alongside accomplished alaka‘i who help shape the future of KS.

“I feel fortunate to work alongside experienced, strong leaders in the boardroom,” said Nobriga. “Corbett, Micah, Lance, and our newly appointed trustee Elliot, are all good, solid people who share common local values and a deep passion for the mission of Kamehameha. They make it easy to have challenging discussions and debates about important issues and to take the right risks to move Kamehameha forward.

“It’s a big responsibility to help lead an organization with the ability to impact the lives of so many. Our school has saved and changed so many lives, including my own. To be in a position to influence what we do and how we go about our work to impact lives and improve the wellbeing of our community is more fulfilling than I can describe.”

Nobriga said that he and his fellow trustees value the mana‘o of Kamehameha Schools constituents.

“I want to encourage our Kamehameha ‘ohana to engage with the trustees when you see us around Kamehameha or around town. I think we all look forward to talking story and learning as much as we can about the good work that’s going on across the organization. It helps us do a better job as trustees and it provides the opportunity to get to know us on a more personal level.”

Nobriga currently serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer at American Savings Bank, where he leads the treasury, financial planning and accounting teams. His teams work across the bank to support strategic initiatives and business growth.

Having been born and raised on Maui, Nobriga was a boarding student at KS Kapālama starting in the seventh grade. After graduating from KS in 1991, he went on to earn an accounting degree from the University of Notre Dame and a graduate degree from the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington. He is also a certified public accountant.

I want to encourage our Kamehameha ‘ohana to engage with the trustees when you see us around Kamehameha or around town.
