NIUHI-Shark opens at the East Hawai'i Cultural Center

NIUHI-SHARK features the amazing collaboration of our talented hoakumu, Carl Pao and Kawika Eyre, and their work to honor our kula’s namesake, Kamehameha I, through paint and prose in commemorate of the 200th anniversary of his death.

The exhibit was on display at the Volcano Art Center last month and will be at the East Hawaiʻi Cultural Center beginning this Saturday, April 6th with an opening reception and panel discussion at 5:30 p.m. Pao has also created five new pieces for this new gallery exhibit.
