Kamehameha Schools Maui participated in Nā Mele O Maui Song & Art Competition presented by the Ka’anapali Beach Resort at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater and placed in all categories! Nā Mele O Maui was established in 1972 for the youth of Maui County and is dedicated to cultural preservation and perpetuation of Hawaiian mele, language, and arts. The competition strives to foster education and enlightenment of Hawaii's heritage. The event instills pride in our youth by providing a rare opportunity to perform in public and compete for excellence with the support of the community. The theme of this year’s song and art contest was “Aloha ‘Ia No Maui”or “For Love of Maui.” Students sang songs including “Kananaka”, “Ka‘a Ahi Kahului", and more.
