Musical tells story of Christianity's introduction to Hawai'i

The public is invited to “Glory in His Soul,” a musical drama about the life of Henry Opukaha‘ia at Kalihi Union Church Feb. 17, 18, 25 and 26 at 6 p.m.

The performance, which was transformed into a musical by Randy and Gay Hongo, depicts how Christianity was introduced to Hawai‘i through missionaries via the eyes of a young Hawaiian boy with a desire to dream big.

The musical is an opportunity for the Kamehameha Schools ‘ohana and the community to learn the history connected to Princess Pauahi’s faith, and understand why KS was founded with a culture rooted in Christian and Hawaiian values.

Seating in the sanctuary will be first come, first served. The event is free. An offering will be taken during the performance to benefit Christian Vision, a non-profit dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through music.


The musical is an opportunity for the KS ‘ohana and others to learn the history of Princess Pauahi’s faith, and understand why KS was founded on Christian and Hawaiian values.
