Motivational speaker Ron Heagy visited KS Maui Middle School to inspire students through his life experience and stories. Ron vividly recounted a surfing accident he had the day before his 18th birthday which resulted in him becoming paralyzed from the neck down. He described his attitude on life and towards other people (specifically his family) before the accident and how everything changed afterward. He depicted his journey through depression, questioning his will to live, the people and moments that inspired him to persevere, the struggles he deals with daily, how attitude affects everything, and the resulting successes in his life due to his attitude. All the while encouraging students to "never give up" and not take anything in life for granted especially loved ones.

Despite being quadriplegic, he has accomplished many things including earning a masters degree by typing papers with a stick in his teeth, becoming an inspirational speaker, mouth painter, author, father, founder of a special needs camp and also a founder of Life Is An Attitude LLC. He jokingly told students "I'm paralyzed from the neck down, but it's important to make sure you're not paralyzed from the neck up." One thing is certain, Ron is an inspiration to everyone around him.
