The wisdom of ‘ōiwi leaders will be amplified in MidWeek magazine as part of the monthly Kamehameha Schools column, “Nā Leo Alaka‘i.” The column will publish on the first Wednesday of every month, now through December!
“Nā Leo Alaka‘i” recognizes the immeasurable ways Hawaiian leaders strengthen our communities, inspire the lāhui and elevate Hawaiʻi nei. Mana‘o will be shared by local leaders on the topics of business, ‘āina, education, innovation, community health and food systems.
July’s featured ‘ōiwi leader is entrepreneur John Kealoha Garcia, founder and CEO of Exchange Ave. The mobile app allows members to create a profile, upload items, and browse a marketplace of goods, services, events and opportunities offered by neighbors in their area.
Garcia describes Exchange Ave. as “a portal to the past and a bridge to our future… a digital economy inspired by the ahupua‘a, with aloha and shared abundance at its core.”
