The Kamehameha Schools Lāhui Rising series will head to Maui this Friday, Feb. 23 for a special presentation on the Hawaiian flag. Everyone is invited to take part in enriching learning experience.
“Welo Ana E Ka Hae Hawaiʻi: Songs of Aloha ʻĀina” will take place from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in Keōpūolani Hale on the Kamehameha Schools Maui campus. Refreshments will follow the presentation.
The event is an opportunity to learn about the history of the Hawaiian flag and its representation of aloha ʻāina for over two centuries through stories, images, and mele aloha ʻāina that reflect a deep love and devotion for our homeland, Hawaiʻi.
Lāhui Rising is designed to create a respectful, safe, and enriching learning space for students, staff, alumni, families, and the community to hear and honor different voices and perspectives on matters of Hawaiian interest for purposes of education.
A presentation will be conducted earlier in the day for KS Maui staff from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. also in Keōpūolani Hale.
For more information, please contact Makaʻala Rawlins at 932-4403 or marawlin@ksbe.edu.
