Kula Waena Homecoming Week

Oct. 16, 2019

Contributed by Dutch Tanaka-Akana

The haumāna of KSM Kula Waena traveled back in time to celebrate homecoming week. With dress days such as Tūtū Tuesdays where haumāna dressed like their wise kūpuna and Whiny Wednesdays which had them dress as if they were back in days before they attended school. Our haumāna celebrated the past and it all ended with them looking towards the future on Future Friday as they dressed as if the future were today.

On Friday the week ended with haumāna participating in the Sports challenges and showcasing their class cheer and banner for their peers and the judges in order to take home class titles such as Banner, Cheer, Dress Days, and Overall point winners.

Great Job S.G. for a successful week!

Class Competition Winners:

Dress up days- 6th grade

Banner – 6th grade

Cheer – 7th grade

Sports – 8th grade

Overall – 7th grade

Authors Opinion: The 6th grade class did an amazing job with their class cheer, all they needed to win was Kumu participation. If the score only counted the performance and not extra points for kumuʻs, the 6th-grade class would have gotten the win. Come back next year and take that title. You did an awesome job!
