KSM Wins 1st Place at the 44th Annual Nā Mele 0 Maui

Kamehameha Schools Maui middle school haumāna won first place at the 2017 Nā Mele O Maui 2017 contest held at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Under the direction of Kumu Leimamo Nitta, students sang competitions songs Leialoha lei Onaona and ʻE Nā Kini to bring home the win. Hoʻomaikaʻi to our haumāna and their kumu!

Nā Mele O Maui was established in 1972 for the youth of Maui County to foster arts education and to perpetuate Hawaiʻi's native culture, music, and language. This art and song competition is hosted annually and has just completed its 44th annual event. Nā Mele O Maui also awards an annual scholarships a student from Maui County who plans to pursue post-secondary education in Hawaiian arts, language or music. (adapted from the Nā Mele program)
