Several keiki artist received acknowledgements and were selected for the Young at Art juried show at the East Hawaiʻi Cultural Center earlier this March.

Keiki artists earn statewide honors in two 2019 shows

Hoʻomaikʻai to all of the keiki artists who participated in both the Young Artists of Hawaiʻi and Youth Art Month art exhibit competition. We are happy to announce the following students who were selected by a panel of artists to have their works displayed in these two statewide exhibitions.

Young Artists of Hawaiʻi

Young Artists of Hawai‘i is an annual student art competition and exhibition that recognizes creative excellence among Hawaii’s public and private school students in grades Kindergarten through sixth grade.

Of the 96 works selected for this exhibit, seven KS Hawaiʻi keiki artists will have their pieces on display at the Hawaii Convention Center and Hawaiʻi State Art Museum(HiSAM).  

The theme of this year’s competition was “My Culture, My Family, and Me”.

The 2019 Young Artists of Hawaiʻi Art Exhibition will be on display at the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum (HiSAM) from May 3, 2019 to June 28, 2019. A replica of the 2019 Young Artists of Hawaiʻi Art Exhibition will be on display from April 2019 through March 2020 in the Pa Kamaliʻi Courtyard on the third floor of the HCC.  An awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 3:00pm – 5:00pm at the HiSAM

 

Youth Art Month  

The Hawaii Art Education Association, the Office of Senator Laura Thielen, and the Office of Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard are pleased to present the 15th Annual — 2019 — Youth Art Month Exhibition. The exhibit is open to students grades K-12 enrolled in any public, private, charter, or parochial school on all islands. 

Five keiki artists will have their works exhibited at the Hawaiʻi State Capitol from April 20 to May 11, 2019. The exhibit is located on the Chamber level at the capitol.

Additionally, kindergartener Aureana Hoshide was awarded Best of Show for the K-2 age group.
