Weather Update | Reminder: Early Release and Modified Bus Schedule Today

As we prepare for changing weather conditions due to Tropical Storm Lala, we wanted to share a reminder that Ke Kula ʻo Kamehameha ma Hawaiʻi will have an early release today, Friday, August 14, at the following dismissal times:

  • Kula Haʻahaʻa: 1:20 p.m.
  • Kula Waena: 1:10 p.m.
  • Kula Kiʻekiʻe: 1:45 p.m.

Afternoon bus schedules have also been modified to help our haumāna get home earlier. Please review the updated bus schedule here:

We ask that ʻohana plan ahead to ensure someone is available to meet their keiki at the bus stop when the bus arrives at its adjusted time.

Campus Cancellations & Closures

  • Friday, August 14: All athletics practices — Canceled
  • Friday, August 14: Kamaʻāina Kids — Closed
  • Friday evening, August 14: Kula Kiʻekiʻe Wehena Kula — Rescheduled for Tuesday, August 25
  • Saturday, August 15: Football game vs. Kailua — Canceled
  • Saturday, August 15–Sunday, August 16: Campus access — Closed

Weather Update: Schedule Adjustments due to Tropical Storm Lala

The safety and well-being of our haumāna, staff, ʻohana, and kauhale remain our highest priority. As we continue to monitor Tropical Storm Lala, with its potential impacts to Hawaiʻi Island anticipated to begin Friday evening, we are making several safety adjustments to campus operations. 

Based on the latest updates from Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense and Kamehameha Schools leadership, Ke Kula ʻo Kamehameha ma Hawaiʻi will remain open tomorrow (Friday), August 14, with the following early release times:

  • Kula Haʻahaʻa: 1:20 p.m.
  • Kula Waena: 1:10 p.m.
  • Kula Kiʻekiʻe: 1:45 p.m.

Bus Transportation

Afternoon bus schedules will be adjusted to help our haumāna get home earlier. You may find the adjusted bus schedule for early release here:

We ask that ‘ohana plan ahead and ensure they are available to meet their keiki at the bus stop upon arrival.

Activities & Weekend Campus Closure

We will continue to closely monitor conditions and guidance from Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense and other state emergency and weather officials. We will communicate any additional changes, including possible impacts to Monday’s school schedule, should they arise.
