"Itʻs just the way I was raised, you know," said Ellias Kuamoʻo, when talking about the decision to quickly return to work and serve others despite experiencing a major tragedy and change to his life.
In addition to his work for the county, Ellias serves as an on-call groundskeeper at Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi.
He and his wife Nicole were honored by KHON2 News in their Big Give segment for reflecting the values we hope for all of our keiki. When they lost their home in the Leilani Estates eruption, they chose to move on and serve others, rather than dwell on what was lost. In recognition of that alakaʻi lawelawe (servant leadership), KHON2 sponosor Aloha Petroleum and Aloha Island Mart is giving the family one-year of free gas.
Watch and read their story on the KHON2 News website.
Hoʻomaikaʻi and mahalo to the Kuamoʻo ʻohana for all they do for moku o Keawe, our kula and for serving as that example for our keiki.
