The Kamehameha Schools Song Contest – which connects our KS Kapālama High School haumāna to their culture through mele – is slated for Friday, March 16 at the Neal Blaisdell Center.
The competition will be broadcast on KGMB and the Song Contest website starting with a pre-show at 6:30 p.m. followed by the live airing of the contest at 7:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “I Ho‘okahi Ka Mana‘o: 100 Years of Hawaiian Civic Clubs.”
The annual Song Contest shows the world that there is more to mele than music alone. Mele connects us to our language, people, place, and to the communities we serve. For our haumāna, that connection ignites a desire to take an active role in civic engagement to improve their communities and the lāhui.

The 98th Annual Kamehameha Schools Song Contest will be broadcast live on Friday, March 16 on KGMB and will stream live on the Song Contest website.
The broadcast starts with a pre-show at 6:30 p.m., with the live competition starting at 7:30 p.m. KGMB-television will re-telecast both the pre-show and Song Contest on Friday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. The TV broadcast will also be available in ‘ōlelo Hawai‘i, via SAP.
