Members of KS’ Communications Group collaborated with local agency 26 Keys Creative to create, “The Legacy of a Princess,” which provides an overview of the history, programs and current initiatives of KS, as told through the many voices of those who share in Pauahi's legacy. The video earned a silver Pele Award under the social responsibility category. The Pele Awards is an American Advertising Federation competition that recognizes the best advertising and design work created in Hawaiʻi during the preceding calendar year.

KS Communications Group captures multiple industry awards

The Kamehameha Schools Communications Group recently captured multiple industry awards in recognition of work around advertising, internal communications and public relations tactics. Read more below for information on each award and those involved:


E hoʻomaikaʻi to members of the KS Communications Group who over the summer captured multiple industry awards in recognition of work around advertising, internal communications and public relations tactics.


Senior Multimedia Content Specialist Jacob Chinn, Marketing Manager Lindsey Chun-Hori KSK’04, and Marketing Specialist Jessie Coney KSH’15 pose with the Pele Award for, “The Legacy of Princess.” The trio lead internal production of the video with support from Marketing Director Andrea Kanno, and members of the Hoʻokahua Hawaiian Cultural Vibrancy and the Strategy and Transformation groups.


Members of the KS ‘ohana were present at the recent Public Relations Society of Hawaiʻi Koa Anvil Awards to accept a Koa Anvil Award, under the internal communications category for associations/government/non-profit organizations. The award was in recognition of the 2021 Eat Local Challenge Campaign. The awardees include Communications Specialist Nadine Lagaso, Community Strategist Nālani Kealaiki KSK’94, Senior Supervising Project Manager for Integrated Asset Management Kamanaʻo Mills, Senior Communications Consultant Crystal Kua KSK’81, Strategic Communications Director Darren Pai, Community Strategies Project Manager Keoni Shizuma and Strategic Communications Manager Andrea Oka KSK’86. Other 2021 Eat Local Challenge project team members not present for the photo or event include Sustainable Industry Development Consultant Leanne Kami and Strategic Communications Manager Aron Dote.


Senior Communications Specialist Mae Nishimura (middle) along with Executive Vice President and Chief Brand & Communications Officer for Olomana Loomis ISC Carole Tang (right) accepted a Koa Hammer Award trophy, recognizing outstanding public relations tactics that are a part of a communications campaign, for work surrounding the Explore Our Kaka‘ako Scavenger Hunt. The hunt, which took place in June of 2021, allowed participants to discover the art, history, culture and green spaces that make the Our Kakaʻako neighborhood so unique and special.
