Kamehameha Schools’ Ka Pua Initiative is hosting its 2nd annual Preschool Readiness Day in conjunction with the grand opening celebration of KS’ Early Learning Complex at the Community Learning Center at Mā‘ili (CLC-M).
The free January 24 event invites Wai‘anae Coast families with keiki 0-4 years old to tour the complex and connect with the island’s many early learning resources that can make preschool both affordable and accessible.
Preschool Readiness Day provides families with information about the preschool application process and the many resources available to make preschool affordable and accessible.
Families can:
CLC-M opened its Preschool Complex and Infant and Toddler Center on August 4, 2014, providing valuable services for hundreds of families, many of whom would have been affected by a kindergarten age eligibity change made by the legislature in 2012.
The final building, an Early Learning Kauhale, opened earlier this month. The kauhale provides a one-stop-shop for Wai‘anae Coast families to access a variety of early learning resources. They include: early learning screening and assessments, family workshops, and early learning developmental programs which help families build upon their children’s strengths and address their learning weaknesses.
The kauhale will also host a number of broader services, like computer classes and the Huliko‘a Kaiāulu Scholar Speaker Series.
For more information on the event or the facility, visit the Ka Pua Initiative website.
