To bring attention to and awareness around National Athletic Training Month, and to provide insight into what the hard-working healthcare providers do on a daily basis, KS Kapālama Athletic Trainer Reid Takano joined KHON 2’s Wake Up 2Day morning show on Wednesday.

As the president of the Hawai‘i Athletic Trainers Association, Takano discussed the role athletic trainers play in keeping student-athletes healthy and safe, provided tips for adults and “weekend warriors” aiming to remain active later in life, and also notified the public about upcoming community service events.

Athletic trainers at all three KS campuses help thousands of student-athletes prevent and deal with an array of injuries, and also oversee the concussion awareness and education protocol; Preventing head injuries is one of the top priorities in the charge to keep student-athletes safe.
