Ho‘omaika‘i to the Ka ‘Ikena Productions crew, Aimi Sakamoto, Kalia Franco, Lauren Kalama & Teija Tuitele, for their 2nd place win in the Crazy 8s Broadcast News Magazine, Middle School Division at the 2017 Student Television Network (STN) Convention in Anaheim, CA.  The girls had eight hours to plan, shoot, edit and export a news story on the topic of social justice.  It was definitely challenging to get everything done in the allotted time, but the girls worked together and got their submission in with mere minutes to spare.

Prior to leaving the girls spent many hours after school and on Saturdays honing their skills with Kumu Rob Siarot.  Mahalo nui to Kumu Siarot and Kumu Candis Nishimitsu for their time, dedication and support of our haumāna!  We would also like to thank Aimi, Kalia, Lauren & Teija's parents for all of their support as well.

The STN Convention is an annual event for middle and high school video production teams.  This year's convention hosted over 3,000 students from across the US as well as teams from Mexico, China and Russia.  All contest video productions are judged by a panel of industry professionals.
