We asked Kumu Rob Siarot to tell us a little about what goes into making these productions happen.

"In Kamehameha Maui Middle Schoolʻs media class, students get together and brainstorm about the things that they feel are newsworthy in our school.  Once the students have decided on a story, they pitch the idea to the showʻs editor (student) and the teacher.  Upon approval, students set up the interviews, shoot background video, and then edit their story.  Only the best stories make it to the final show so the process is very competitive.  Ka ʻIkena News is a taped broadcast that airs monthly and highlights the happenings on campus.  There are even some tutorials, comedy skits, and short films which are included as well."

Hoʻomaikaʻi to the Ka ʻIkena News team for their first full-length broadcast!
