Incoming 6th Graders Welcomed to Campus

Jul. 26, 2018

Contributed by Thomas Jones

With the 2018-2019 school year right around the corner, 6th graders spend three days on campus getting to know their fellow peers, their kumu, and the campus itself. The days are spent building relationships with classmates as they play games, visit their content area teachers, meet MS staff and learn the culture of the MS campus with both the help of their teachers and current 7th graders who volunteered to act as mentors to the new students.

Students also become familiar with their schedules, get assigned their new lockers, and learn the Mele and Oli of MS. A lot of mental energy is expelled adapting to the new environment and students get to refuel with snack and lunch provided by the school before they head home for the day. Overall, the experience serves as a warm-up and eases students into MS campus life before the school year officially starts.

A big welcome to the class of 2025!
