I Mua Week Dress Up Days and "Give With Pauahi" campaign

Jan. 16, 2024

January 22-26 is I Mua Week 2024 at Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi! Kula Haʻahaʻa will be participating in special theme dress up days to celebrate and there are three activities happening that week that families should know about, including our "Give with Pauahi" campaign. All dress-up days are optional.

I MUA WEEK 2024 DRESS-UP DAYS and ACTIVITIES
See the flyer above or the email from Kumu Nikki for more specifics on dress days. Every day except Thursday is optional for dress and uniform can be worn as a different option.

  • MONDAY - Warrior Pride - blue and white apparel
  • TUESDAY - Disney Day - Disney character wear
  • WEDNESDAY - Crocs and or Wacky Socks & attire
  • THURSDAY - Special Event Whites for Charles Reed Bishop Convocation
  • FRIDAY - Athletes & Mathletes

On Monday, January 22, our kula will hold its Homecoming Game featuring our boys basketball team taking on Pāhoa in Koaiʻa Gym. JV game starts at 5:30 pm with Homecoming Court festivities and Varsity game to follow. Come out and cheer on our Warriors!

GIVE WITH PAUAHI
Known as "Pennies for Pauahi", this annual giving campaign will run for one week over I Mua Week. This is an optional, school-wide effort to raise money that will be donated to the Pauahi Foundation and go towards educational scholarships for our Native Hawaiian students. Kahiau, to give without expecting anything in return, is the value we uplift in the intent for this activity as we perpetuate the legacy of Ke Aliʻi Pauahi Bishop.

Throughout the week, haumāna are invited to bring in any monetary donation. Collection containers will be set-up at the bus ramp from 7 a.m. to 7:40 a.m. each morning. There's also a fun class competition as collected coins will be weighed daily. Dollar bills will be given the weight of 100 pennies which equals 8.8 oz. per dollar. There will be one winning grade level, which will get a "free dress" day and a treat on that day.

CHARLES REED BISHOP CONVOCATION
Our K-8 haumāna will be honoring Mr. Charles Reed Bishop and the important role he played in bringing Ke Aliʻi Pauahi's vision to life. Haumāna will take part in a special convocation, and are asked to wear their special event/chapel whites to school on that day. The convocation will be recorded and will be available for viewing on the KS YouTube channel later that day.
