Founderʻs Day events honor Pauahiʻs legacy statewide

Kamehameha Schools staffers from Kaumakani to Keaʻau honored the memory and legacy of Ke Aliʻi Bernice Pauahi Bishop with song, praise and dance at Founder’s Day celebrations statewide. The events took place on December 19, Pauahi’s birthday.

KS Chief Executive Officer Jack Wong was under the weather that day, so Marsha Bolson, vice president of Community Relations and Communications shared his reflections on Pauahi at Kawaiahaʻo Church were the Princess once worshiped. More than 300 KP staffers attended the early morning service.

Wong’s message included the following poignant words from Pauahi on the importance of perseverance:

“It is a trait of character which we ought to cultivate, if we wish to overcome difficulties that come in our way…”
