The newest installment of our Experience E Ola! video series shines a spotlight on our Kula Waena ‘ohana. They were recently recognized as a School of Distinction by the Association for Middle Level Education – an accolade that was only awarded to 11 middle schools across the nation in 2023. In AMLE's assessment, they lauded the good practices the school employs around the five essential attributes that characterize a successful middle school: responsive, challenging, empowering, equitable and engaging. They also praised our school’s approach to Hawaiian Culture-Based Education noting that our intentional efforts to honor the heritage and identity of our haumāna are cornerstone concepts of best practice.
