As we reach our first full week of this makahiki kula, there are so many wonderful moments to reflect on from the first day and through the week. Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea was such a special day to return back to kula as we celebrated a Kingdom lā nui in meaningful, purposeful, and intentional ways.
Our kula kiʻekiʻe haumāna hearing the brilliance of our kupuna in manifesting ea, life, breath, and our lāhui rising into mele. Haumāna connecting with cultural icons to open and close their day to be inspired and informed through that mele and moʻolelo.
Our kula waena haumāna placing pilina at the forefront as they deepen their relationships with one another and their kumu in their Papa Kauleo.
And our kula haʻahaʻa haumāna waving their hae Hawaiʻi and marching to their assembly to end their first day back, joined in mele aloha ʻāina and learning more about the lā nui. Ea mai ka lā!
Our kula comes alive as our keiki return, with promise and hope for an incredible year, a new start, and opportunities to make core memories that will last a lifetime. We are reminded of our kuleana as educators that we are intentionally growing these ʻōiwi leaders, helping them to find their unique purpose and kuleana for the purpose of ea.
As we return, we also do so with much joy and aloha in being able to share the results of our Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)/Hawaiʻi Association of Independent Schools (HAIS) Accreditation visit at the end of last school year. Our school was awarded the highest level of accreditation, earning a full seven-year term with no mid-term visit. While this acknowledgement is affirming that we are on the right path, we know that the expectations we have for ourselves and what we need to accomplish far exceeds the benchmarks set through those standards. That to realize the vision of Ke Aliʻi Pauahi, and mission of Ke Kula ʻo Kamehameha, we must ignite the passions of our haumāna so they can be the multipliers to ensure the reclamation of a thriving lāhui, capable of high achievements and positioned in areas of influence.
Mahalo for your partnership, commitment, and dedication to each haumāna’s educational journey.
I Mua Kamehameha!
Our newest ASKMS and Class Officers helped organize fun activities for their peers and kumu to build pilina throughout the day.
Kula Kiʻekiʻe started and ended their Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea grounded in the ʻōiwi brilliance of our kupuna who manifested important concepts of ea into our mele and moʻolelo.
