Interim Po‘o Kula Debbie Lindsey has announced Dr. Scott Parker as the Interim Hope Po‘o Kula for Kamehameha Schools Kapālama.

Parker is currently the high school vice principal for grade 9, and was previously the grade 12 vice principal in 2014-15. He has been a school administrator for 11 years and has served as principal at Jefferson Elementary in Honolulu and vice principal at Princess Nahi‘ena‘ena Elementary in Lahaina. Parker was also a high school teacher at KS Maui and at Hāna Elementary and High School as a K-12 teacher, athletic coach and assistant athletic director.

“My recent appointment (to Interim Po‘o Kula) has created a need to fill the Hope Po‘o Kula position for this coming school year, with an interim appointment,” said Lindsey. “Dr. Parker has willingly accepted this kuleana at an exciting time as we work together to provide a world-class school that fosters the development of globally-minded, 21st century learners who embrace their identity, pursue post-secondary completion and become servant leaders to further the goal of building a thriving Lāhui.

“Great consideration was given to the breadth of experience this individual would need to possess. One important consideration was to select someone who had experience with our existing system and could make a smooth transition into this position, while also looking for an individual who is a well-versed school administrator possessing principal experience, experience in working with multiple audiences, including K-12 and an educator that could forward the work of the Hope Po’o Kula office from both a campus and tri-campus perspective.“

A graduate of Maui High School, Dr. Parker received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Education from the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa and earned his Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California.
