Darrel Hoke named Executive VP of Administration

Darrel R. Hoke has been named Kamehameha Schools’ Executive Vice President of Administration, and is charged with the strategic focus of helping to move all of KS towards the goal of operating as a high performing Native Hawaiian Organization. His group will oversee Human Resources, Information Technology, Education Operations – including Admissions, Financial Aid and Hoʻoulu Data Center - and Facilities Development and Support.

He is currently Kamehameha’s director of Internal Audit (IA), which assists the trustees in the effective discharge of their fiduciary responsibilities through independent, objective assurance and consulting activities.  

His work with IA, which began in 2002, has given him an in-depth understanding of the operations, policies and practices that support Kamehameha’s $11 billion endowment portfolio of financial assets and commercial real estate, as well as the operating framework of KS’ $400-plus million operating budget that supports Kamehameha’s three K-12 campuses, 30 preschools, multiple community education programs and collaborations, and a full suite of administrative functions.

A certified public accountant, Hoke began his Kamehameha Schools career in July 2002, bringing with him more than 25 years of experience in business and financial-related industries. Prior to coming to coming to Kamehameha, Hoke was a senior vice president at Bank of Hawaii overseeing budgeting, cost accounting and risk-based management reporting.

He also spent six years with the accounting firm Ernst & Young.

Hoke earned a bachelor’s in accounting from Seattle University and is a graduate of St. Louis School. He is a St. Louis School trustee and is a director of the St. Louis School Alumni Association.

Hoke was born and raised in Kaimukī, and lives in Honolulu with wife Denise and their four children. He spends most of his free time with his family, and enjoys golf and other sports.
