Former Kaua‘i County Director of Housing Kamuela Cobb-Adams has been named senior director of regional strategies for O‘ahu. The new position is part of Kamehameha Schools’ Community Engagement & Resources Group (CE&R), an operating group created through the schools’ recently delivered Strategic Plan 2015-2020.

Cobb-Adams began his new role on Novemer 16. He will oversee CE&R’s operations and collaborations within five regions that span the island of O‘ahu, focusing on establishing programmatic priorities for each region with the use of well-informed data, communication, and accountability measures.

Cobb-Adams comes to Kamehameha with a diverse background in education, community development, government relations, strategic planning, real estate, and business experience spanning 16 years.

He served as Kaua‘i County’s director of housing for the past three years. While there, he chaired the Kauaʻi County Affordable Housing Task Force and served on the Leadership and Oversight Committee for the Kauaʻi Community Health Improvement Initiative.

Before taking his position on Kaua‘i, Cobb-Adams worked in various leadership positions at the Department of Hawaiian Homelands and as the executive director of the Kahuku Housing Foundation on his home island of O‘ahu.

“I’m happy that Kamuela accepted this position, and I’m very confident in his ability to help KS be better integrated in the community within the five O‘ahu regions, leading us toward even greater effectiveness in achieving the desired educational outcomes in each,” said Kā‘eo Duarte, VP of Community Engagement & Resources.

“He also brings with him a passion for developing sustainable communities and raising up Native Hawaiian leaders throughout those communities.”

Cobb-Adams is a 1994 graduate of KS Kapālama. With a degree in education from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and a strong background in community development, Cobb-Adams was deemed an appropriate fit to drive CE&R’s O‘ahu Regional Strategies team that will work to connect KS’ lands and its educational mission in a way that will best benefit families and learners in each region.

“I’m greatly honored to have been chosen as part of CE&R’s ‘ohana, and I’m excited to begin working on my kuleana to ensure that KS’ operations and resources are maximized within each region,” Cobb-Adams said.

Born and raised in Kailua and Kāneʻohe, Cobb-Adams grew up actively enjoying the outdoors. Today, he has three children and lives with his family in Kailua.
