Class of 2024: Apply for the Poʻo Kula Scholarship

For many ’ōpio, the decision of what to do after high school will be one of the most significant decisions as a young adult.

We know you are working hard to finish strong academically, while also looking ahead to the future. Our goal is for every haumāna to leave as an ʻŌiwi Edge graduate with a strong ancestral foundation that shapes your agency, adaptability, and well-being, giving you a competitive advantage to fulfill your unique purpose and kuleana. Kamehameha Schools believes that post-secondary education and training will lead to the development of ʻōiwi leaders and our vision of a thriving lāhui.

KS is committed to supporting your journey, and in addition to the Kaʻi Lanakila Scholarship for seniors, there is also the Poʻo Kula Scholarship, for high-performing members of the class of 2024. It recognizes current KS seniors who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and the ability to articulate their commitment to hoʻōla lāhui as an E Ola! Graduate.

Last year, we awarded this scholarship to seniors who used the funds to help accomplish their dreams of attending college with many enrolling in the finest universities across the world. Please see the details below to see if this scholarship is right for you as you pursue your own post-secondary goals.

ELIGIBILITY

  • To be eligible for this scholarship, haumāna must have a minimum 3.750 cumulative GPA at the end of the 2023-24 fall semester. Please contact your counselor if you have any questions about your unweighted cumulative GPA.
  • Confirmation of your application to at least one college from the list of schools provided. View the full list of schools below or online here.
     

HOW TO APPLY | A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

  • Complete the CSS Profile - by January 19, 2024
  • Submit all required financial forms through IDOC
  • Submit all required forms in your KS Net Partner Student Account including:
    • KS Certification Statement
    • KS Affirmation Statement
    • KS College Scholarship Short Answer Response
    • Poʻo Kula Scholarship Form
      • Essay (250-word count limit)
      • College Admissions Application Confirmation
      • Resume (2 pages max)

The deadline to complete all steps in the process is January 31, 2024. 

AWARD AMOUNT

  • The minimum award amount for this scholarship is $10,000 and the maximum is $25,000 per year for up to four years. The scholarship award amount will be determined based on financial need and the financial aid package from your college.
