In a joint virtual service, KS Hawaiʻi and KS Maui have put together a presentation to celebrate the contributions and character of Ke Aliʻi Pauahi's beloved husband, Charles Reed Bishop, on the day of his birth.
Born January 25, 1822 in Glens Falls, New York, Bishop, with his friend William Little Lee, arrived in Hawai‘i in 1846. Charles Reed Bishop married Princess Bernice Pauahi Pākī in 1850 and through their 34 years of marriage up until his death in 1915, he steadfastly loved her and worked to realize and carry forward her vision through his generosity and industrious nature.
Through scripture and song, our haumāna and kahu pay tribute to this great benefactor and builder of Hawaiʻi for the tremendous role he played in shaping the legacy of our beloved princess and the future of our Hawaiʻi.
