Campus Update: Koaiʻa Gymnasium lānai extension construction

March 27, 2025

Work on the extension of the lānai for Koaiʻa Gym began at the start of Spring Break. Crews from Nordic Construction have set up a construction barricade and dust screens around the area where work will be taking place.

All students, faculty, staff, ʻohana and spectators should avoid the active construction area while work is ongoing. Be sure to utilize the alternative crosswalks and remain aware of your surroundings when moving around that area. Koaiʻa will be open and accessible throughout the duration of the construction, which is anticipated to last to the start of next school year, given minimal hurdles like weather and connecting to infrastructure.

Adjustment to how we enter and exit the gym will need to be made, especially for some of our larger events at the end of the year like Convocation and Commencement, as well as Volleyball games and Judo competitions held there over the Spring season. Please look out for entry instructions with event announcements and follow the rules that will be in place to safely move through that space.

When completed, the new lānai will provide a larger, permanent covered space fronting the gym, replacing the tent that has been in place there.

Mahalo!
