Thanks to the hard work of operations staff to make necessary repairs today, and with an improving forecast for Hawaiʻi County, campus can open tomorrow, Dec. 7, as normal.

We hope that everyone remains safe through the storm and appreciate your flexibility and adjustment to today’s educational programming. Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi remains operational and after an assessment conducted today, we are able to re-open our campus to normal activities and schedules tomorrow, Tuesday, December 7.

We will continue to remain vigilant and monitor the latest information from our county Civil Defense and Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency (HIEMA). Based on details we have at this time from the National Weather Service, weather conditions are expected to improve tomorrow for our island.

We continue to keep our Moku O Keawe communities and entire paeʻāina in our prayers for safety and protection. We know from reports that some of our ʻohana have been impacted. We encourage you to reach out to your poʻo or child’s counselor for assistance if there are any challenges you are facing that would prevent you from returning to school tomorrow.

We will update you immediately if any changes occur that would prevent a safe return to campus. We look forward to finishing this first half of the year strong and with abundant joy of the holiday spirit.

Na ke Akua e kiaʻi a mālama.
