No ka mea, ua aloha nui mai ke Akua i ko ke ao nei, no laila, ua hāʻawi mai ʻo ia i kāna Keiki hiwahiwa, i ʻole e make ka mea manaʻoʻiʻo iā ia, akā, e loaʻa iā ia ke ola mau loa. ʻAʻole nō hoʻi i hoʻouna mai ke Akua i kāna Keiki i ke ao nei, i hoʻohewa ai ʻo ia i ko ke ao nei; akā, i ola ai ko ke ao nei ma ona lā. ʻO ka mea manaʻoʻiʻo iā ia, ʻaʻole ia e hoʻāhewa ʻia; akā, ʻo ka mea manaʻoʻiʻo ʻole, ua hoʻāhewa ʻia ʻo ia ʻānō, i kona manaʻoʻiʻo ʻole i ka inoa o ke Keiki hiwahiwa a ke Akua. Eia ka mea i hoʻāhewa ʻia ai; ua hiki mai ka mālamalama i ke ao nei, akā, ua makemake nā kānaka i ka pouli, ʻaʻole i ka mālamalama, no ka mea, ua hewa nā hana ʻana a lākou. – Ioane 3:16-19

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light; for their deeds were evil. – John 3:16-19

Ka Manaʻo o ka Alakaʻi
Lisanne Kekuewa KSK’82, KS Hawaiʻi Remote and Summer Learning Head

As a young child growing up, ‘ohana time was always a special time for us as we would gather in the evenings to close the day with reflection, scripture, and pule as ‘ohana o ke Akua. On these evenings I would start to think of my memory verse to share – “oh, the pressure” and “why didn’t I think of it earlier!” More times than not, “God is Love” was ALWAYS the one memory verse that you could bank on hearing from one of us kids. It was the first memory verse learned, and you were safe if you mixed up the words – God is Love, Love is God. You see, love without God or God without love just doesn’t exist. AND, all we must do is BELIEVE. Belief in Jesus gives us eternal life and LOVE 24/7. During this Christmas season let us find great joy and peace knowing how much we are loved by God and in turn, we love because He first loved us.

“For God so loved the world.” Isn’t this amazing? No specifications, no parameters, no qualifications. From the top of the heavens to the deepest parts of the sea; from far right, to the farthest left. Everything, in all his creation, he LOVED. And, because of the incredible love God has for us all, his word goes on to say, “that he gave his one and only Son.” Who could even fathom that type of love? The type of love that looks past the wrongdoings, the betrayal, and the hurt. The type of love that sees the broken and desires nothing more than to love it back to wholeness. So, not only does God love us despite our shortcomings, but he loves us so much that he gave his only son to ensure that we’d be able to spend eternity with him. If nothing else, KNOW THIS: GOD LOVES ALL. No specifications, no parameters, no qualifications.
