A new partnership creates a pathway for students to earn their college degree early

Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi Kula Kiʻekiʻe has just introduced an incredible educational opportunity available for students through the Ke Ala I Ka Palapala Laepua - Pathway to Bachelor’s. It's a unique collaboration between Arizona State University (ASU) and Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi.

Ke Ala I Ka Palapala Laepua is designed to support the personalized educational pathways of our haumāna, allowing them to pursue their passions, prepare for post-secondary education, and explore additional career opportunities. Upon completion, students can earn up to 60 college credits, potentially covering two years of post-high coursework. This program not only reduces post-high school costs but also enhances academic readiness and prepares them for future academic success.

Ke Ala I Ka Palapala Laepua (KAKPL) offers:

  • Tailored academy pathways for Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi haumāna
  • Up to 60 college credits upon completion
  • Reduced post-high school costs
  • Enhanced academic readiness and preparedness for academic success

For students interested in applying, here is the process:

  • Review KAKPL website and eligibility requirements:
    • Grades 10, 11, 12 AND
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 and above (3.5 and above for study hall period)
  • Decide on Enrollment Options:
    • Part-Time: Continue with KS course schedule with the addition of a Kaunaloa-ASU college course.
    • Full-Time: Request for a Kaunaloa-ASU Study Hall Period replacing an elective course.
    • Over-Time: Request for two Kaunaloa-ASU Study Hall Periods replacing two elective courses.
  • Review the KAKPL courses and select one Academy Pathway.
  • Submit Application: Complete the online Fall 2024 KAKPL Application and Course Request Form by July 31, 2024.

To register in time for semester 1 (Fall 2024), complete and submit your application by the deadline: July 31, 2024
