The freshmen class of 2020 became the first 9th grade class since 2006 to win both the combined class competition and the outstanding musical performance at the 97th Annual Kamehameha Schools Song Contest Friday night at the Neal Blaisdell Center.
The theme of this year’s event was: Naʻu E Lei, The music of Bina Mossman.
The senior boys picked up the award for outstanding use of Hawaiian language while the senior class won the George Alanson Andrus Cup (outstanding performance in the boys division). The junior girls won the New England Mothers Cup for outstanding performance in the girls division while the outstanding student director award went to ʻElia Akaka (junior combined class) for the third consecutive year.
KGMB will rebroadcast the song contest on Friday, March 24 beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the preshow followed by the song contest at 7:30 p.m.

Charles Edward King Cup (combined class competition):
Winner: Class of 2020 (Freshmen), Josias Pili Fronda (song director)
