About

Mahalo for your interest in learning about the history of Kamehameha Schools eLearn.

The eLearn team initially began as the KS Distance Learning team, offering its first distance learning program during the summer of 1997. The first distance learning course offered for high school credit, Hawaiian History, was televised statewide via public access channels on all islands and offered to select boarding students from Kamehameha High School. More than a decade later, KSDL began offering award winning online programs, ‘Ike Hawai’i (high school), A‘o Makua (parents, caregivers, adults) and A‘o Kumu (educators) while providing support services to internal KS departments and programs interested in incorporating innovative distance learning strategies for Hawaiian learners.

While direct service programs are no longer offered today, Kamehameha Schools eLearn continues to innovatively create and share Hawaiian resources through the website and various communication channels.
