KS provides insight, resources during Safe Schools Week

In honor of America’s Safe Schools Week – recognized annually during the third week of October – across the nation, students, families, officials, faculty and policymakers are collaborating to ensure that our schools are safe environments for learning.

At Kamehameha Schools, the safety of our students is a top priority and we continue to work to provide a healthy, nurturing learning environment for everyone on our campuses, in our preschools and in our business offices.

Highlighted below are a few ways KS ensures our commitment to providing haumāna, ‘ohana and kumu with helpful information on fostering safety and well-being.

  • Hiʻikua Student Helpline
    In our commitment to provide a safe learning environment for all members of our campus community, we have adopted a “see something, say something” philosophy. If our haumāna witness anything that may present harm to themselves or someone else, they are encouraged to report it via the Hiʻikua Student Helpline.   • I Ola Nā Keiki – Caring for the whole child
    Flip through the latest edition of I Mua Magazine for this column by Darrel Hoke, KS executive vice president of Administration and member of KS’ Enterprise Student Safety Steering Committee, where he provides insight on KS’ commitment to student safety and well-being.
  • Mālama Ola Minute
    A series by KS’ Mālama Ola Division to increase awareness, promote discussion, and offer tools to improve the physical and mental health of our haumāna. Parents of KS students receive this message monthly via email but it is also accessible to the public on the Mālama Ola webpage.
