About me

I was born and raised on Hawaiʻi Island and graduated from Kaʻu High School.  I attended the University of Puget Sound and then earned a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a Master’s degree in curriculum & instruction both from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.  My experiences prior to Kamehameha Schools have been at Damien Memorial High School; DOE district resource teacher serving Maui High, Lahainaluna and Hana High; Kalama Intermediate School; and UH instructor.

Spanning over 25 years, I have experienced many facets of Kamehameha Schools.  First as a basic skills instructor in the Extension Education Program where I taught GED classes in the windward communities of Punaluʻu and Kahaluʻu.  Then my family and I moved to Maui never imagining that there would be a Kamehameha Schools Maui! At the Maui campus, I taught 3rd grade and coordinated summer school programs.  I have served as interim vice principal and interim principal at the middle school.  Between these two interim positions, I was the campus’ first Director of Outreach offering programs to Hawaiian students who were not enrolled in the campus day program.  My current position is the most rewarding and enjoyable.  Together with an awesome faculty and staff, we care for our young adolescents - He lani ke keiki, he milimili na ke makua.
