Biology students connect with Hōkūle'a crew members

Haumāna in Kumu Brooke Holderbaum’s Biology class spoke with the crew on the Hōkūleʻa. While many of the haumāna’s questions were not biology-related, they were very excited to make a connection with the crew and listen to Maui-born crew member Nakua share his experiences on Hōkūleʻa.  The timing of the talks fit well in this quarter – after students studied latitude, climate, weather, currents, and Hōkūleʻaʻs course; the day after a star compass presentation by guest lecturer Pā’anakalā Babayan Tanaka, educator and apprentice navigator with Hui o Waʻa Kaulua, Maui’s Voyaging Society.
