The Kamehameha Schools ‘ohana recently welcomed Vivian Yasunaga as its director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A). Prior to joining the Kamehameha ‘ohana, she served as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Child and Family Service.
In her new position, Yasunaga will oversee a team that serves as business partners to groups throughout the organization, focusing on providing critical strategic business, operational, and financial analysis to consult and support leadership. She will also facilitate the annual strategic planning and financial budgeting process and help analyze current and past trends to assist management in understanding business performance (financial and non-financial), trends, opportunities, impacts, and resource optimization.
The FP&A Division ensures an effective and comprehensive process for developing financial plans and budgets that link to key objectives, ensuring that all budgets and forecasts are reasonable and comprehensive. “It is an honor to serve the keiki of Kamehameha Schools,” said Yasunaga. “We have the kuleana to ensure that Ke Ali‘i Pauahi’s mission lasts into perpetuity.”
Yasunaga reports to Finance Managing Director Ben Salazar, who is confident in her abilities because of her extensive experience. “Yasunaga has the professional experience and the moral character to ensure Kamehameha Schools remains globally competitive and ensures financial stability,” Salazar said.
Her professional experience also includes work for the Hawaii Community Foundation and the City of Boston. Yasunaga succeeds Debbie Erskine, who left KS after nearly 20 years of service.
Yasunaga serves as a board member for the Hawai‘i Employers Council, a board advisor for Elemental Excelerator, and an alumni board member for Social Current’s executive leadership institute. She previously served as treasurer for the Momilani Elementary School Foundation and a board member for The Institute for Family Enrichment.
