Election Information and the application for student council officers is now available!
If you have an interest in representing your peers, and being a representative for student voice? Consider applying. If you would like to be involved in the planning of events and activities throughout the year? Consider applying. Interested in further developing your time and project management skills or soft-skills like collaboration and conflict resolution? Consider applying.
Applications will be accepted through April 17. Campaigning can begin as early as April 14 once candidates pass an eligibility check. Please make sure you familiarize yourself with the ASKS Constitution and the eligibility, roles, and responsibilities of each position. You can find the constitution on the ASKS website.
Voting will take place April 28 through May 1*, online. Ballots will be emailed to each students imua.ksbe.edu email address.
Eligibility
Eligibility is outlined in the ASKS Constitution under Article V.
All candidates must be in good academic standing, have a good citizenship record, and have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
Only current sophomores and juniors are eligible for ASKS student body officer roles.
There are three types of roles that are available to submit an application for:
Appointed position will be selected by Class Officers/Advisors and/or the Student Activities Coordinator and ASKS Executive Board.
How to Apply?
First, everyone interested in running for office should read the ASKS Hawaiʻi Constitution.
Candidates need to submit an online application in which they will select which role they are running for.
There is a candidate questionnaire, which will be used to help populate a voters guide. Each candidate will answer these questions:
Each candidate is required to sign an acknowledgement, recommendation and approval form. This also includes getting a recommendation from a high school administrator, teacher, or counselor. You also need to get approval and support acknowledgement from a parent. The form can be uploaded along with the application.
Campaigning
During the application process you will have an opportunity to include campaign materials for approval and upload.
Running an effective campaign includes producing materials that tell your story and why your peers should elect you as a leader. In addition to the responses you will provide that will be included on a Candidate website, applicants can submit other pieces for use in their campaign including:

There will also be grade level Candidate Forums which will take place this month. The previously scheduled Elections Panels have been rescheduled to:
Candidates for that grade level Class Officer and ASKS candidates will have an opportunity to speak at the event.
