Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious: Mary Poppins descends on KSH Nov. 17

Cherry Tree Lane meets Keaʻau next week as the KS Hawaiʻi Hōʻike A Haʻi Performing Arts Club resent their fall musical, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's multi award-winning musical Marry Poppins, at William Charles Lunalilo Center Nov. 17, 18, and 19 at 7 p.m.

All three performances are open to the public with $5 general admission tickets available via the FACTS online portal through Tuesday, Nov. 15. For an additional $10, audience members may purchase a VIP pass, which includes early seating at 6:30 p.m. and access for cast pictures following the show. As of Wednesday, Nov. 9 tickets for Friday and Saturday's showings are sold out.

Funds raised from these performances will support sending over 25 performing arts club members to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the largest performing arts festival in the world, next August in Scotland. There, haumāna will showcase a traveling version of this year's Hōʻike - PAIʻEA, a Hawaiian rock-opera. A workshop version of the show was featured as KSH’s Hōʻike in May 2022.

Junior Tehani Kekuawela will take on the title role. The rising star and former Miss Hawaii Island Teen USA took part in Kristin Chenoweth's Broadway Bootcamp this summer and will be a part of a new docuseries, "1300 Miles to Broadway" from Chenoweth, producer Kenny Ortega, and Monarch Media.

SHOW SYNOPSIS:
The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces the audience to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that, "Anything can happen if you let it."
