Last week, a few of our haumāna and kumu participated in the Schools of the Future Conference in Honolulu and helped Architects Hawaiʻi Ltd.(AHL) present the Kekuʻiapoiwa Learning Center redesign.

It was an excellent opportunity for our haumāna and our kula to share meaningful and purposeful learnings and experiences about our learning center since completing the redesign. 

Kumu Lehua shared, "Our haumāna did awesome in capturing and then sharing the learner’s perspective and voice! We are proud of their ability to share the stage in front of many educators and tell their stories with confidence, aloha, and pono."

Senior BJ Castillo, and juniors Bethany Correia and Laʻikū Paleka joined business kumu Manly Kanoa, librarian Keikilani Meyer, and poʻo kumu Dr. Lehua Veincent in partnering with AHL in the presentation. 

In an email following the event AHL principal Terry McFarland said, "You guys did an awesome job in presenting the education and student side of the equation. It was very informative for AHL and the audience to hear and learn how you are able to use your new space to help promote 21st Century Education and assist students to achieve ever higher goals." 

Completed in Spring 2018, the Kekuʻiapoiwa Learning Center redesign has reinvigorated our learning center, allowing more collaborative working spaces and new opportunities (like our student-run Waʻa Cafe) to take place in the center.
