Severe weather alert: Storm update #1

April 7, 2026

Ke Kula ʻo Kamehameha is closely monitoring the severe weather approaching Hawaiʻi. The safety and well-being of our haumāna, ʻohana and employees remain our top priority.

At this time, all Ke Kula ʻo Kamehameha campuses, preschool sites and offices will remain open tomorrow, Wednesday, April 8, 2026. We will continue to monitor conditions and follow the guidance of government and emergency officials. Should conditions change, your campus, preschool or office site will share timely updates.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for all islands, starting from Wednesday morning through Friday afternoon. Thunderstorms, widespread heavy rains, and strong winds are forecasted for this period, with storm conditions potentially extending into the weekend.

We will also provide daily afternoon updates as the storm moves through the pae ʻāina. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to follow weather updates, take the necessary precautions for your ʻohana, and mālama one another. Our thoughts are with all of our communities across the pae ʻāina as we prepare for another approaching storm.

E mālama pono.
