Kula Waena Impact Report ʻ24-ʻ25

Sept. 3, 2025

Our Kula Waena proudly presents our first annual impact report. In this issue, we explore five ways we’ve reimagined school—journeying through history, our local communities, the globe, and into the hearts of our haumāna, as they thrive today because of Hawaiian ancestral knowledge.

These five ways include -

  • Huakaʻi - finding identity by taking learning outside
  • Lā Kauhale - school redesign for haumāna-centered learning
  • Mentorships - e ola i ka ʻohana
  • ʻŌiwi Arts - centering voice, culture, and creativity
  • Agency - cultivating haumāna voice and action

Take a look back over the last year at our middle school to see the incredible learning through hands-on, relevant, and engaging experiences. The report captures both the quantitative and qualitative impacts of ʻŌiwi Edge teaching and learning. Included are links to video clips which go along with the major themes.

Ultimately our goal as a kula is to empower native Hawaiian learners to reclaim and advance their Hawaiian identity and lāhui through their unique purpose and kuleana.
