Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi junior Chenoa Frederick was named Gatorade Hawaiʻi Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year.

The Gatorade Player of the Year program recognizes the nation’s most outstanding high school athletes for their athletic excellence, academic achievement, and exemplary character.

Earlier this year, Frederick won three HHSAA gold medals and six BIIF gold medals in Track and Field, helping her team earn its second consectuive BIIF Girls title. She also started on a girls soccer team that won the BIIF title and finshed second in the HHSAA championships.

Track & Field coach and KSH business kumu Manly Kanoa conveyed the school’s pride in the exceptional student, athlete and person that Frederick is. 

“The entire Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Track & Field coaching staff is extremely proud of Chenoa and her achievement,” said Kanoa. “We are the lucky ones who see her hard work and the struggles that go into every practice during the season.

“Chenoa’s blend of natural talent and an unwavering work ethic are what led her to becoming our school’s first Gatorade State Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year. She is deserving of the honor and we could not be more proud of her.”

As part of the recognition, Gatorade will donate $1,000 to a sport-based organization of Chenoa’s choosing.
